UNITED STATES

Country Profile

CRWRC has been working in the United States since 1962. Today, CRWRC's purpose in the United States is to engage Christians, churches and Christian community organizations in wholistic, long-term, and structural responses to poverty. Our goal is that people – regardless of economic status – will work together to transform their communities.

CRWRC’s USA ministry is supported by the Communities First Association (CFA). CFA is a national, ecumenical team of Church and Community Consultants (CCC’s). Each CCC develops leaders in their geographic regions. These leaders are staff or volunteers in churches or Christian community development organizations. They lead citizens (including church members) in their neighborhoods in the work of community transformation.

CRWRC also conducts a National Direct AmeriCorps program. More than Twenty-five volunteers are introducing Asset Based Community Development to neighborhoods – especially engaging churches and non-profit organizations in community development. Via this program CRWRC is building a new cadre of leaders with Community Development experience.

If your church/organization would like to learn more about how to transform your community, contact a Church and Community Consultant for your state or order Communities First, a curriculum recently produced by the Church and Community Consultants.

You can find a host of resources, tools, video clips, and stories from Communities First Association and our partners by clicking on the Communities First Association logo below.

Communities First Association is the public “face” of CRWRC's work in the United States. CFA was begun by CRWRC to include ecumenical Christian leaders in addition to Christian Reformed leaders.
