
Position Title: Honduras Team Opportunity
Location: El Coyolar, Tilapa, Honduras
Number of Positions: Up to 10 individuals per team
CRCNA Agency Involved: CRWRC
CRCNA Partner Involved: Diaconia Nacional, social arm of the Honduran CRC
Time Commitment: 7-14 days (year-round except Sept/Oct) (plus orientation)
Dates Opportunity Is Available: November thru August
Purpose: To build relationships and form new partnerships between supporters, local Honduran communities and missionaries; to come alongside the community of El Coyolar in attaining its goals and plans.
Specific Responsibilities: The community has a variety of projects that include:
a. Health Center
b. Washable latrines
c. Roofing
d. Housing improvements
e. Potable water system
Qualifications:
1. 16 years old or older.
2. Your team should include volunteers with skilled experience.
3. Ability to do physical work under rustic tropical conditions.
4. A willingness to follow the community’s leadership on the project.
5. Mature Christian committed to serving and following Christ.
6. Ability to work in a team environment.
7. Capable of living in a cross cultural setting with a host family.
8. Respectful of and ability to thrive in cross cultural settings or another culture.
9. Demonstrated interest in learning about Christian community development.
10. Must be highly flexible and open to changes in the position or work as circumstances dictate
11. Willing to do work and teach in appropriate ways which can be sustained by partner/community after volunteer has left.
12. Ability to work effectively while dealing with the ambiguity of adjusting to another culture, and dealing with cultural stress.
Financial Requirements of the volunteer: Estimated in USD
$3,000.00US materials donation per team.
$1500.00US (aprox) per team member covers travel, lodging, food, and all other trip needs.
