Post Secondary Education Opportunities
Interested in pursuing further education in missions and/or development work? Ministry staff of the Christian Reformed Church, including CRWRC (Christian Reformed World Relief Committee) and CRWM (Christian Reformed World Missions), suggest the following universities and colleges for their programs in missions and/or development. Please note that this is neither a complete list nor an endorsement for any of these institutions. There are many other options that may be available to you. Akrofi-Christaller Institute in Ghana, Africa offers grad and PhD programs in the areas of African theology, missions and culture. Asuza Pacific University in California (Christian) Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan (Christian) offers various undergrad degrees as a basis for Christian ministry. Coady International Institute (from St. Francis Xavier University) in Nova Scotia Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa offers missions focused and youth ministry programs. Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA. is a Christian liberal arts college that places a large focus on justice and peacebuilding. Eastern University in Pennsylvania (Christian) Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, Ontario offers courses in missions. University of Guelph in Ontario offers many agricultural, business and international development related courses of study. Of note is Collaborative MA/MSc. International Development Studies Program http://www.ids.uoguelph.ca/ Heritage Bible College in Cambridge, Ontario offers various religious degrees. Humber College in Toronto, Ontario MissionPREP offers courses in Toronto, Ontario to prepare you for overseas missions service. McGill University in Montreal, Quebec Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario (Canada) has an excellent Development Studies department. Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario (Christian) Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) offers a Masters of Christian Studies program with a missions study focus as one of the options. The King’s University College (TKUC) in Edmonton, Alberta offers undergrad programs in various Christian disciplines. Trinity Western University in Langley, BC (Canada) has excellent Undergrad programs in international development, environmental studies, politics etc. They also have an excellent immersion internship program at their Laurentian Leadership Center in Ottawa – students take an academic program as well as do in-service with Ottawa based NGOs or Members of Parliament. Tyndale University College in Toronto, Ontario (Christian) offers various programs as a basis for Christian ministry. University of British Columbia offers a Post Graduate Certificate in International Development University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada offers: US Center for World Mission in Pasadena, California offers two programs with World Christian Foundations and INSIGHT. The latter is an intensive study of integrated global history and theology using the socratic method. Uganda Christian University in Mukono, Uganda Wheaton College in Chicago, Illinois (Christian) offers many undergrad, master’s and doctorate programs in Christian ministry. |
