With the approval of synod, a 150th Anniversary Gift has been designated. It is a gift to the future church by establishing a leadership institute.
The purpose of the institute is to help in preparing leaders for service in God’s world by coordinating leadership training resources offered by other institutions and to supplement such training resources as needed through providing seminars in various places, tutoring, mentoring and encouragement. The Leadership Institute is designed to offer training resources for leadership formation and development in the CRC, to make the same resources available to the Church of Christ worldwide and to individuals who are leaders in business, commerce, education, economic and industrial spheres.
The institute will be governed by a board of directors as articulated in the Foundation Document and the Institute will be led by a director qualified to implement the objectives of the Institute.
The institute will be church-based, that is to say that its organizational connectedness is directly to the CRC and its operations will fall under the oversight of the Board of Trustees of the Christian Reformed Church.
The institute’s operations will be funded through the income of a $5,000,000 endowment. The endowment will be raised through special solicitations through church offerings during the anniversary year as well as individual donors during that same year and beyond. The institute is authorized to seek funding from other foundations and/or contributors as the program develops.
