In November we participated in 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. The World Health Organization estimates that at least one in three girls and women globally experience abuse because of their gender. Praise God for the men and women partnering with World Renew who strive to bring an end to this injustice.

Pray for Hiroshi, who listens to ReFrame’s Japanese ministry radio programs and enjoys the sense of community he feels knowing that other Christians are listening to the same episodes at the same time. Please pray for two people who recently started attending a church led by a Resonate missionary in East Asia who guided them through a six-week course so that they could learn more about Christianity. Both are eager to learn more about God and the Bible. Ask the Holy Spirit to continue drawing these two seekers nearer to Christ!

Today much of the worldwide church celebrates Epiphany, when we reflect on the revelation of Christ as the Redeemer for all peoples. Pray today that people around the world will welcome Jesus as their Savior.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Syria. As the political landscape shifts, there is a sense of uncertainty, and many in the global community fear what the future holds for the region. We ask for your prayers during this tumultuous time, that God may intervene and guide Syria toward lasting peace and stability.

Lift up Rev. Sergei Sosedkin and other members of our Russian-language ministry team. Ask God to bless their new radio programs, comforting women affected by war. May he grant listeners wisdom and strength as they share testimonies and offer hope amid uncertainty.

Church on the Ave., a Resonate partner church plant in Seattle, recently celebrated the baptisms of three young adults! Please pray for these new believers, asking the Holy Spirit to guide their steps as they continue to follow Jesus.

Pray for the Gather events taking place in Orlando (Jan. 13-15) and San Diego (Jan. 29-31). At each event several Christian Reformed classes are coming together to bear witness to what has been happening in their local contexts and to discern where God may be leading them into renewed ministry and mission.

Please pray for January Term classes, for Doctor of Ministry students coming to campus for classes, for other students who are traveling, and especially for new students preparing to begin their studies in the spring semester. Pray for health and safety for all.

Pray for Ashley, who contacted our English-language ministry, as she discerns how to share her faith with her son, Adam, who is not a Christian. Pray for God’s guidance, asking that her son’s heart may soften toward coming to faith. Ask God to grant Ashley wisdom and patience as she encourages Adam's spiritual journey.

God is calling believers worldwide to step into new ways of sharing Christ’s love with people who wouldn’t normally set foot in a church building. “Pray for the members of historic churches to encourage new believers in Jesus who may act or think somewhat differently than traditional churchgoers do,” asked Steve Holtrop, Resonate’s regional mission leader for Central America.

We recently bid farewell to one of our longest serving staff members, Bob Laarman, as he retired from the role of leading our DRS team. Pray for Bob in this time of transition, and ask God to continue guiding the DRS ministry team as they rebuild homes and hope in people’s lives in the wake of disasters.

“We are praying to distribute Bibles to every child, which means Bibles for entire families,” write missionaries Charles and Hensel Oh in the Philippines. Early this year they expect also to receive copies of Manga Messiah, an animated retelling of Jesus’ story for distribution in schools nationwide. May God see this plan through and work through it!

Even in the best of times, our global neighbors earn barely enough to get by. World Renew offers training so that people can diversify their livelihoods. Pray for community members who seize these opportunities and who often become trainers themselves. May they be encouraged as they help others in their communities learn skills like beekeeping, sewing, and fish farming.

Lord, grant wisdom and compassion to all who face hard choices about ending pregnancies. Grant them courage to choose life, and inspire us to be nurturing and enduring communities of support. Guide us also to be allies, advocates, and friends of people with disabilities and of people near the end of life, advocating for compassionate care and offering support and love.

When events like floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes strike communities, active and retired chaplains from across North America are often called upon to provide emergency support, critical incident debriefing, and spiritual care. Some also assist police and fire departments in the wake of car accidents, suicides, and shootings. Please pray for chaplains providing such support in communities that are suffering.

Thank God for the members willing to serve on this committee. May he grant wisdom and insight as they interact with churches from many denominations worldwide. Pray for the WillkommensGemeinde, a church that missionaries David Kromminga and Mary Buteyn have planted with and for refugees in Berlin. Not only are newcomers to the city finding faith and a supportive community through this church, but local Germans are too.

Please pray for unchurched girls in GEMS who may be hearing about Jesus for the first time. May they all feel welcome in their local club and experience God’s love for them. Pray that they may receive Jesus as their Savior, develop godly friendships, and experience positive discipleship relationships with their GEMS leaders.
