Charitable Gift Annuity

How It Works

Nathaniel gave a charitable gift annuity to the CRCNA.  In this financial arrangement Nathaniel donated a sum of money in exchange for regular fixed payments for his lifetime. This planned giving strategy allowed Nathaniel to support a charity while also receiving a steady income stream.

Nathaniel enjoyed several advantages thanks to this strategy.  He had a largely tax-exempt income stream, often better returns than a GIC, charitable tax receipts, no changes to his Old Age Security, no estate probate fees, and it helped him meet his philanthropic goals during his lifetime.

Gifts That Pay You Income

With a charitable gift annuity, you can make a generous contribution to CRCNA, and in return, we commit to providing you (and a chosen beneficiary, if desired) with a fixed annual income for the remainder of your lifetime, while the remaining balance supports our mission.

This type of charitable donation not only ensures you receive steady income during retirement but also empowers CRCNA to continue its vital work. Depending on your funding method, you may qualify for various tax advantages.

  • Cash or Appreciated Property: If you fund your gift annuity with cash or appreciated property, you become eligible for a federal income tax deduction when itemizing. Moreover, this approach allows you to minimize capital gains taxes when using appreciated property for your gift.
