BTGMI Leader Returns Home
Rev. Paul and Charlotte Mpindi arrived home in Grand Rapids, Mich., late Monday afternoon following several harrowing days that they spent in Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR), where war had broken out between government troops and rebel forces.
Mpindi, director of French ministry for Back to God Ministries International (BTGMI), says that things are chaotic and people are starving because of lack of food in the African country in which the rebels are now solidifying their hold.
During part of their time in CAR, they needed to remain under their bed to protect themselves from the violence that had erupted on the streets.
Mpindi and his wife had traveled to Bangui on Wednesday, March 20, to lead training seminars for pastors and lay leaders. Read previous story for more details.
In an email he sent to BTGMI director Rev. Kurt Selles after leaving Bangui and before returning home from Europe, Mpindi thanked everyone for their support.
He says he deeply appreciated the prayers of intercession for he and his wife, Pastor Jacky Chéry, BTGMI/CRWM leader in Haiti, and others who work in the ministry in CAR. Pastor Chéry has returned to Haiti.
But additional prayers are still needed for those still living amidst the struggle in the African country.
“Please, we still covet your prayers as we are emotionally drained, but spiritually encouraged to know that we indeed belong to the body of Christ. Your prayers are precious to us. Please continue to pray for our staff in Central African Republic,” he wrote.
“Things are chaotic, and people are starving because of lack of food. Thanks for staying in prayer on behalf of God's people in Central African Republic.”
In the email sent to Selles, Mpindi thanked him and others for literally "pounding on the doors of heaven through intercessory prayer on our behalf, while we were in Bangui.”
What is curious, he wrote, is that the training that they were planning to give church leaders in Bangui was on Intercessory Prayer.
“Your effective intercession on our behalf provides a practical example I certainly will use when the Lord opens to door for this training to happen in the future,” he wrote.
