Christian Reformed World Missions will be marking its 125th anniversary with a series of celebrations that kick off across the denomination at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Calvin College Prince Conference Center.

Three days later, on Sept. 28, CRWM invites people in the Chicago area to join a celebration starting at 4:30 p.m. at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill.

Other events are scheduled for Oct.12 at Bethany CRC in Bellflower, Calif., Oct. 14 at Almond Valley CRC in Ripon, Calif., and on May 3, 2014 in the greater Hamilton, Ontario area. Details for the events will be forthcoming.

CRWM will also join in Mission Fest 2013 on Nov. 2, 2013 at Unity Christian High School in Orange City, Iowa.

As part of the celebrations in Grand Rapids and in the Chicago area, Christian Reformed Church writer and novelist James Schaap will discuss missionary novelist Casey Kuipers.

Reserve a spot online or contact Dorothy Wallinga at 616-224-0706, [email protected], to reserve a spot for the celebration. When registering by phone or email, include name, address, email, phone number, and number attending.

As part of its 125th celebration this year, CRWM has unveiled a special anniversary painting, published a book featuring photographs of the work of missionaries over the decades, and made available videos and many stories depicting and reflecting on the history of the mission agency.

Recent videos chronicle relief work following the tsunami in Japan, provide an overview of CRWM’s work, and encourage younger people to consider working as a missionary.
