Innovation Experiment Grants Available

Do you have an innovative idea for reaching out to people in your community? Applications are open for Resonate Global Mission’s Innovation Experiment Grant. The deadline to apply is Dec. 15, 2022.

Designed to spark gospel witness in people’s own neighborhoods or communities, Resonate’s Innovation Experiment Grant will fund innovative projects for Christian Reformed churches, members, church plants, ministry partners, and other faith communities.

“Congregations, church plants, and faith communities are facing major challenges as they pursue God’s mission,” said Moses Chung, director of Resonate’s Mission Innovation Team.

For that reason, Resonate will help fund projects where believers are willing to try new ways of sharing the gospel and are focused on one of four adaptive challenges: practicing barrier-crossing friendships, opening space for the missional initiative of young adults, joining the Spirit on mission in local neighborhoods, and engaging the local cultural context.

Past grant recipients have included a program to help ministry leaders better develop Generation Z; a family devotional guide for eastern and southern Africa; and collaboration with nonchurch neighbors to build a community playground.

In addition to receiving funding for a specific project, grant recipients will also participate in a learning circle, where they will have an opportunity to learn from other experiment leaders and Resonate ministry leaders.

“Mission innovation isn't about success but about learning how God is at work and joining him—and we can learn more together than we can on our own,” said Chung.

Jeremiah Basuric, a pastor at mosaicHouse Community CRC in Edmonton, Alta, and Agnes Mastin, founder and director of IndigenousChristian.org, received an Innovation Experiment Grant in 2021 to fund a series of short videos for educating churches on Indigenous culture. The grant process “was very flexible and collaborative,” said Basuric.

The goal? To help churches better reach out to and be more welcoming to First Nations individuals.

“We appreciated being able to gain wisdom from other people,” Basuric said. “There was a lot of freedom. We were able to do what God called us to do, and it encouraged a lot of discerning.”
