World Renew Names Interim Director
Kenneth (Ken) Kim, director of World Renew’s International Disaster Response since April 2015, has accepted the position of interim director of World Renew-Canada, effective immediately. He will also serve as interim codirector of World Renew’s global work with Carol Bremer-Bennett, director of World Renew-U.S.
Kim steps in to the role that Ida Kaastra-Mutoigo leaves as she moves into a leadership position at a non-profit organization in New York City that supports survivors of human trafficking. Her last day directing World Renew-Canada will be Feb. 28, 2022.
“This has been a difficult decision,” Kaastra-Mutoigo said. “I have been so blessed by U.S. codirector Carol Bremer-Bennett, the staff, board, volunteers, donors, partners, and the communities we serve worldwide. The justice and mercy ministry of World Renew will always be close to my heart."
Kim said, “While I take on the interim Canadian director and global codirector roles, I thank my colleagues in the International Disaster Response team who have prepared me to step into this assignment.”
Kim said he looks forward to working in collaboration with other World Renew leaders to carry out the work of World Renew. “We are Easter people in a Good Friday world. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this collective journey,” he said.
Kim has extensive leadership experience in his current role at World Renew, in World Renew’s partner networks including Canadian Foodgrains Bank and ACT Alliance, and in former organizational leadership roles.
In more than 25 years of ministry, he has managed programs and staff in a variety of roles in both community development and disaster response.
Meanwhile, effective immediately, Jackie Koster, deputy director, will become the acting director of the International Disaster Response team.
