Reaching Remote Villages in India
Back to God Ministries Hindi outreach teams frequently visit remote villages to encourage believers and seekers.
In some cases, these visits—and Back to God Ministry radio programs—are the only contact the villagers have with God’s word and other Christians.
Late last year, the Hindi ministry team traveled through thick forests and mountainous terrain to visit a remote village, a place to which few people from the outside venture.
Only two dozen Christian families live in this village. And because there is no church there, the people have little opportunity for spiritual growth.
“Our team learned of this need and trekked up the mountain to share the gospel with people eager to receive visitors—and God’s word,” reports the Hindi ministry leader.
The villagers were grateful to learn of the radio program, which they described as “informative and spiritually fulfilling.”
M.J., a widow and mother of three children, lives in another remote village deep in northern India. Concerned for the rising trend of alcoholism among the youth in her village, M.J. organizes prayer meetings and Bible studies in her home.
Recently, M.J. invited staff from Back to God Ministries partner in India (Good Books Ministries) to speak with the youth about God’s love and his better plan for their lives.
The youth responded with a desire to know more about the love of God.
K.L, an elderly gentleman, lives in still another small Indian village where only six families are Christians. Some of his neighbors had started to open their hearts to the Lord.
But K.L. was concerned because these neighbors, faced with pressure from within the community, were drifting back into worshipping tribal gods.
K.L. opened his home and invited BTGMI/Good Books staff to come share God’s word with the villagers. The team introduced their Hindi radio program and discipleship magazine, Masihi Ahwan (Christian Calling) as a way to continue hearing the gospel message.
Several people promised to listen and expressed interest in receiving the magazine.
