ReFrame Media Director Stepping Down

Rev. Steven Koster will be stepping down as the Director of ReFrame Media, Back to God Ministries International’s (BTGMI) English language ministry, effective July 31.

Tasked with rebuilding BTGMI’s English language ministry upon his hire in 2006, Koster launched several new programs in his early years and strategically led the ministry’s entrance into the Internet age.

“Since 2006, Steven has faithfully led BTGMI’s English language ministry,” said Kurt Selles, BTGMI’s director in a statement on BTGMI’s Facebook page. “He has been faithfully committed to increasing both the reach and faith formational impact of each of ReFrame’s programs.”

Next Steps for Koster

“After more than a decade of building a ministry team and expanding the reach of ReFrame Media, the time has come for me to focus on some new challenges,” said Koster.

Among the challenges, Koster plans to finish his doctoral studies in family ministry and organizational leadership through Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Koster will also focus his efforts on his family’s bed and breakfast in Grand Rapids.

“I’d like to develop our bed and breakfast as a bivocational ministry opportunity,” says Koster. “We've already hosted some marriage retreats there, and I want to expand that with more retreats and other events for parents and pastors.”

Koster’s leadership has helped expand the ministry’s reach dramatically. ReFrame’s six programs currently reach about 350,000 subscribers, including more than 200,000 Today daily devotional readers and 6,100 prayer partners who provide pastoral care for ReFrame’s audience.

Filling Koster’s Role

Over the next few months, BTGMI’s leadership team will be considering the best way to move forward.

“Changes in leadership of this degree always provide a good opportunity to evaluate current ministry needs,” said Selles.

During this transition period, Selles, along with Robin Basselin, ReFrame’s Associate Director for Content Strategy, and Justin Sterenberg, ReFrame’s Director of Digital Media will oversee the day-to-day operation of the ministry.

“I cannot thank Steven enough for his commitment to expanding God’s Kingdom through media,” added Selles. “We wish him the best on the next phase of his life ministry.”
