Times of Peace and Uncertainty

In late September, leaders from ReFrame Ministries’ partner ministries took part in a special communion service on the shore of Gull Lake in Michigan. Together for the first time in more than four years, they celebrated communion in not one but many different languages.

That moment of unity and peace was especially needed for Rev. Marc Nabie, ReFrame’s French ministry leader from Burkina Faso in West Africa. His country has suffered amid violence and unrest at the hands of Muslim extremists for more than a year.

Just a few days later, Nabie sent a message after he had arrived back home in Ouagadougou, his country’s capital.

“Pray for us as a coup is going on,” Nabie said. “A lot of the situation is chaotic, and the jihadists are gaining ground outside of the capital.”

Sounds of gunfire and explosions aren't new to Nabie, as Burkina Faso underwent a military coup earlier this year as well.

“Marc has experienced both fear and uncertainty that I can't begin to imagine,” said Kurt Selles, ReFrame’s director. “And yet, he and his ministry team are offering hopeful biblical messages to people who are affected most by this unrest.”
