Savilla's Christmas

December 17, 2007

Savilla is a young girl in Indonesia who knows the real meaning of Christmas.

Earlier this year, the sixth grader from Central Java sent a letter to Rev. Untung Ongkowidjaja, the leader of The Back to God Hour’s Indonesian-language team, thanking him “for the nice Kiddy devotional booklet.” Kiddy is produced for young children by The Back to God Hour’s Indonesian ministry.

Savilla went on to tell Ongkowidjaja what that booklet meant to her. She wished that her family had had the money to buy a Christmas tree. “I know that the cost was expensive and I have no money to purchase a tree,” she wrote.

But she wanted to let the pastor know that the lack of a tree didn’t spoil her Christmas celebration. “I wasn’t disappointed,” she declared, “because the most important part of Christmas is not the Christmas tree, but Jesus Christ who was born for me.”

The Kiddy devotional helped this young girl to understand the real meaning of Christmas.

Perhaps your family would like to give a Christmas gift to children in Indonesia.
Kiddy is one of three Indonesian-language devotional booklets produced for children and young people by The Back to God Hour staff in Indonesia. At a cost of about 70 cents each, 18,000 copies of Kiddy are printed and distributed bi-monthly to school children throughout Indonesia.
