Starting Anew

Many believe that since a pastor has already completed their first call, and is therefore “experienced”, entering a second call is easy and almost seamless. However, often that’s not the case. The first and second calls can be to very different types of ministry, contexts, or roles. Even when the second call is a really good fit, there are often layers of grief with leaving the first call. And, let’s be honest, pastors don’t know it all even if the second ministry setting is very similar to their first one.

This program is for pastors who have started in a new congregational ministry context within the past two years. The particular emphasis will shift based on expressed needs and could include those entering a second call, those stepping into a lead or solo pastor role for the first time, or those who are planting a Christian Reformed congregation.

Gatherings
There will be one gathering per year with 8-12 CRC pastors who've started in a new congregational ministry setting within the past two years. The gathering will be geared at learning together, and encouraging the value of thriving together. All participants will receive a book related to their transition moment.

Mentoring Group Grants:
Grants of up to $5,000 USD are available to fund groups of six to eight ordained CRC pastors (Minister of the Word or Commissioned) plus a facilitator, who desire to gather together to learn from each other while fostering health in their ministry, lives, wellbeing, and relationships.
